So I finally got a blog to mark the unimportant and borderline boring aspects of my life. I really hope this doesn't get too boring, though right now my life isn't too exciting. I work as a teacher of eighteen month olds at a Christian academy. It's a lot of hard work but the kids are pretty awesome. I have a few goals that I want to accomplish before this new year comes...which is coming up so fast. I can't believe it's already August 23rd! I am happy that summer is finally coming to a close. It's been way too hot these couple months. Anyway, a few things I'd like to happen before 2010...
  • Get out of debt...only 1471.86 to go from 4503.76. Incredible.
  • Not miss a day of work. Not that I will after 2010 ;).
  • Start exercising and eating healthier.
  • Along those lines...eliminating soda and fast food.
  • Continue to work on practicing my religion and tithing. I've been slacking.
I'm sure there's more but I don't want the list to be too overwhelming. It's amazing to see how much I owe on the credit cards. Granted it's been a year, but I think it's crazy I've been able to pay 3032.90 while being in and out of work while doing so. I want to be out of debt before December. I'm going to be frugal with Christmas presents this year. I need to start saving for emergencies and investing in my future.

A huge thank you to [personal profile] serenity for handing an account code over!

So I think I'm going to try and do the read 50 books in a year challenge. I've always wanted to do it but never thought I could. I also didin't even know of 50 books I wanted to read (I had about 12) so I kind of put it off. Since discovering Shelfari, I've been able to add a lot more to my list and am still adding everyday. Right now I have about 53 books that I want to read on top of the three I'm kind of reading right now. I haven't been impressed with the two I have started now, but hopefully I'll be able to pick them back up soon. I used to be such a bookworm when I was younger...I'd finish a 300 page book in a day or so. Then when I discovered the computer and internet, I slowly stopped reading. I think that's really sad and such a sign of the times. There's so much emphasis on electronics that 'good old fashioned' entainment is gone. So after that long message, I'm going to start this *nod*. Books I've read so far:

Night World 1 & 2 by L.J Smith
I was looking for something after Twilight and came across these books. They were okay but I have a few gripes about them...the storylines were pretty good, but the characters fell in love way too fast and then it was the end. Out of all the stories, I liked Daughters of Darkness and Spellbinder best. I'd recommend them if you are just plain curious about them or had nothing else to read. ;)

I'll Fly Away by Wally Lamb
A great collection of small stories written by women in prison. I enjoyed it and liked some more than others, but overall it was a good book and really made me appreciate life out of bars and made me certain I'd never do anything wrong.

Vampire Diaries by L.J Smith
I'd heard that this series was better than Night World and they were right. I did like it better than NW, while the character were a little blah for me, I did like the plot and the story was pretty fast-paced. I didn't know this was a series so I'll be picking up the others soon!

The two books that I'm kind of in between: Million Little Pieces by James Frey and Bound in Blood by David Thomas Lord. They are kind of slow for me but I'm the kind of person that has to finish the book so I'm going to pick them back up and try to reread them. I'm 49 pages into Million Little Pieces and about 15 pages into Bound in Blood. I'm also about to start reading This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen. I'm 1 page in ;).
